Community Crisis Response Initiative (CCRI)

A Program of Onward and Upward

Responding to Crisis. Restoring Hope. Building a Path Forward.

Why CCRI Exists

Every day, first responders answer calls that change lives.

A firefighter helps a family escape a house fire. An EMS crew saves someone experiencing a medical emergency. A police officer responds to a veteran in crisis. A neighbor calls for help because a family has nowhere to go.

When the immediate emergency ends, another challenge often begins.

Many individuals and families are left asking the same question:

"What do we do now?"

Emergency services are designed to respond to immediate threats to life and safety. Community organizations provide housing, employment, healthcare, counseling, food assistance, veteran services, and countless other valuable resources. Yet between those two systems, there is often a gap.

People in crisis frequently find themselves navigating a maze of agencies, phone numbers, paperwork, eligibility requirements, and appointments—all while trying to recover from one of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Too often, the resources exist.

What is missing is someone to help connect the person to the right resources at the right time and remain with them until they regain stability.

That is why the Community Crisis Response Initiative (CCRI) was created.

CCRI is built on a simple belief:

No one should have to face a crisis alone.

Our role is not to replace first responders, hospitals, veteran organizations, faith communities, or existing service providers. Instead, we serve as a coordinated community partner that helps bridge the critical gap between emergency response and long-term recovery.

Working alongside fire departments, EMS, law enforcement, veteran organizations, healthcare providers, faith communities, nonprofits, employers, and volunteers, CCRI helps individuals move beyond surviving today's crisis toward building a stable tomorrow.

Whether someone is experiencing homelessness, a veteran transition, a family emergency, a mental health challenge, financial hardship, or another life-changing event, our goal is the same:

To meet people where they are, coordinate the support they need, and help them take the next step forward.

Because a crisis should never define a person's future.

With compassionate people, coordinated partnerships, and a community committed to helping one another, recovery becomes possible—and lasting prosperity can begin.
