About Us

“Give a person a fish and they eat for one meal, teach them to fish and they eat for a lifetime!"

The Onward & Upward organization is a private and nonprofit Community Online Work Center (COWC) that has taken the lead in providing instruction and facilitation for people who are experiencing homelessness and joblessness in our community and are finding it extremely difficult to get hired. The COWC is located at 2030 South Park Street, Madison, WI 53713. The main objective is to help homeless and jobless citizens to get hired to work for an online employer and work their online job at one of our work stations for up to 8 hours per day inside the Onward & Upward Community Online Work Center. After 6 months (or less), they can take their computer that we have provided to their home and continue working for their online employer from the comfort of their home.

Our Mission

Onward & Upward offers a viable alternative to the homeless and unemployed by establishing a Community Online Work Center to teach, coach, empower and encourage program participants to be employed online which will then allow them to earn income and establish sufficient and safe housing.
